June 10, 2009: Remember the walk along the James River in Lynchburg series Paige did in her White Hot Pants? There was lots more to that area that we didn't have time to explore that day, so we paid a return visit on a warm Sunday morning. This time Paige was wearing a pair of black shorts and a green & white top, and white ankle socks instead of the black knee-highs under her braces. We planned to be out for quite a while, so for some extra support we took off the 4-buckle knee-pads and replaced them with the 5-buckle pads.

Paige started off getting her braces on by herself, but decided it would be better to have Jacqui do all the work! Once Jacqui had lifted her legs in and secured all the straps she was ready to stand up and head outside...

Once outside Paige made her way down the steps, then up the path to the car.

As difficult as it was to work her way up the gravel path to the car using crutches, Paige still had more work to do just to get into the car! First she had to get into position, slide her crutches in, hold on and lower herself down to the seat, and then unlock her knees so she could bend her legs and lift them into the car, as the following sequences show....

In the next update Paige gets comfortable in the back seat, only to find she has to get out again and do it all over!

June 11, 2009: Paige had barely gotten her legs into the car and settled into the seat when we realized we had forgotten a few things in the house and needed to go back inside! So, Paige had to swing her legs back out, straighten them and lock the knees, get her crutches and then push herself up to head back to the house! Coming back out again a short while later we managed to catch some different views of Paige coming back up the path to the driveway, this time using a different gait to save her arms a little for the long day out walking.

June 17, 2009: We finally made it to the River Walk... after all the walking already that morning Paige was already tired, and as we continued along the path above the river, and added in the combination of the heat, humidity and having to swing along on crutches, Paige was about ready to take a break as we came up to the farthest point we had walked the last time we were there. With a bench in sight she continued on so she could take a break!

June 18, 2009: Finally Paige made it to the bench and was able to take a rest, but not before catching her foot and twisting it a little. The way the bench was facing made it just about impossible to take pictures without Paige having to squint from the glare of the sun, but we managed to get a few before resuming the walk and heading into the section Paige had not yet explored...

As we watch Paige round the corner and walk off towards the van past the last of the day's bicylists, we come to the end of the photos for this update. We'll post the video next, and start getting ready for the next new Gallery!
