July 6: We had intended to do some festive "Red-White-and-Blue" casts for the second part of Paige's Fourth of July Update, but when we looked in the box of casting supplies we realized we had purple, not blue! So, Paige selected black and purple as her colors for the week instead, and we got to work placing her right leg in a long-leg walking cast (with heel) and her left arm in a long-arm cast. After some photos around the house (including the video of aplying her leg cast which we will be showing later), we spent the day out in sunny Buena Vista doing some shopping, then stopped into one of our favorite parks for a quick picnic lunch. The next day we had some shopping to do in Historic Lexington, and while there took the opportunity to stop at an ice cream shop and cool off for a while. Here's a sample of what we'll be posting throughout the week for this photo series...
The Beginning... First Paige's right leg was placed in a long-leg purple and black fiberglass cast, then her left arm in a similar black & purple long-arm cast. Once the casts were dry she tried a few steps, and realized she needed a sandal to give a little bit more height to her good leg to match the heel on her cast. Back in the house she changed into her blue shorts, but before we headed out for some shopping there was still a little time to play with the dog and try to ice a cupcake with only one hand!
Once everything was ready it was time to head out to the car and get started on the trip... first stop - "Beautiful Downtown Buena Vista!"

July 8: We walked around town for a while, stopping to see what the stores had to offer. By the time we reached the last stop (Our personal favorite... the gourmet wine and beer store!) Paige decided to take a break from hobbling along in her cast and waited outside on the bench for us.
Let's move on to Page Two of this series and watch Paige fill up the car with gas and stop for our lunch in the park...!Click For Page Two
