August 23: On one of the hotter days of summer we decided to find a cooler place to explore, and decided on a trip to Lewisburg, West Virginia. Paige's denim cut-offs were so popular in her first series wearing them that she decided to wear them again for today's drive. Since it was a longer drive than most of our photo-trips, and the car is cramped even without braces, Paige took them off for the ride and left them on the seat beside her until we got close. Then, she buckled up and was ready to go at our first stop: The Farmer's Market. Because it was so cramped to work when she put them on in the car, Paige had to have Jacqui make some fine-tuning adjustments to her straps and also tie her shoelaces before she could step off into the Market...
The market was fairly crowded, making this Paige's first Public Appearance with that many people so close and taking notice of her braces. In addition to the covert glances she got, a lady at one of the booths was very curious to know what had happened, why Paige was wearing braces and how long she would have to wear them! After some shopping we left the market and headed down the street to some of the great shops in Lewisburg, including a wine store and and antique shop. After browsing through some of the shops, we headed over to a small park with a fountain to take a break...
August 24: Our next trip out after Lewisburg was also to West Virginia, but this time it was a rural trip to see one of the last covered bridges in the state, and also to visit a Civil War Memorial not far from Lewisburg. For this trip the weather was also hot and muggy, so once again Paige chose shorts as the coolest outfit to wear, and because we would be doing a fair amount o walking over uncertain terrain she wore one KAFO to better get around.
